Brooks & Day Single ‘Red Planet’ Honors NASA’s Mars Rover Landing

On February 18, 2021 after a seven-month journey from Earth, NASA’s Mars Rover “Perseverance” landed on Mars’ Jezero Crater. The car-sized rover’s mission is to seek for signs of ancient life and collect samples of rock for possible return to Earth. Perseverance will help pave the way for us to travel to Mars and return safely home.

Like countless others throughout the world, Benjamin Brooks and Peter Day of the New Age instrumental duo Brooks & Day were transfixed by the mission and dramatic landing in mid-February. Prior to the landing, the musicians learned of the mission and were inspired to compose a song. With the help of L.A. veteran musicians Rob Mullins (keyboards) and Rich Mangicaro (percussion), the duo created a transcendent — and surprisingly emotional — musical journey aptly called, “Red Planet.”

“Red Planet” has been released as a single on Brooks & Day’s Daybrook Records label. It is available for streaming and download purchase at all popular music sites such Apple Music, Amazon Music and Spotify.
