Coming off a debut album that climbed up to No. 11 on the Zone Music Reporter charts, Brooks & Day and Daybrook Records have released their second album, “Awakening,” a collection of New Age colors, textures and rhythms borne from the inner souls of flutist Ben Brooks and guitarist/keyboardist Peter E. Day. Recorded mostly during the pandemic when social distancing was the norm, many of the tracks were recorded separately and later embellished with the help of jazz pianist/mixer/arranger Rob Mullins (Hubert Laws). Ben and Peter were able to get together for a few of the initial recordings. “Ojai Morning” was one of those special songs where the two were in the same room in a cozy house in lovely Ojai, an artist mecca north of Los Angeles.
